What is it you do exactly?

How many times have you gone to somebody's website and you haven't had a clue what they do? You look at the site and you read through the home page and it's really confusing and they haven't actually spelled out directly what they do.

Then you go to the about page and you hope that that's going to be clear and you find that's just as bad and you still have no idea what they do.

It’s a common issue. A lot of business owners don't really know how to communicate what they do to an external party.

They know inside their mind what they do because they started the business.

They understand it really well, but they don't understand how to make other people understand what it is that they do.

So, you want to make sure that you're not falling into that trap.

Have a look at all your communications. Look at all your messages.

Is it crystal clear who you're talking to, who your services and products are going to benefit?

Is it crystal clear what your products and services are and what the benefits are?

Is it crystal clear what your customers are going to get from working with you? – The outcome – the transformation?

You've got the obligation to make those three points really, really clear on any landing page you do, on your website or your social media platforms.

Make sure that you flip that script by reviewing all of your communications and getting help if you need to ask people.

Ask customers what you do and why they bought from you.

Make a note of their words and use them in your communications. Avoid jargon or industry speak.

Speak on your customer’s terms.
