Does Your Personal Brand Have You Lost and Confused?

I don't do vulnerable. So this is a BIG moment. But it's a teachable moment that could help you (and that's more important than my ego) so here goes ...

I recently went through a rebrand, a repackaging of what I do and what defines me, and I lost myself there for a while, trying out crazy stuff that wasn't me and it made me miserable.

And it just goes to show that just because you do it for others professionally, it doesn't necessarily translate that you can do it for yourself. We all have blindspots.

I'm always talking about being authentic and yet I wasn't being so. I wasn't walking the talk and felt like a fraud. Like I said - truly LOST.

I felt like a beginner despite DECADES of experience.

🥴 I felt like I was on a hamster wheel - running like crazy and getting exactly nowhere.

🥴 I felt like I was "hustling" and that's NEVER been me!

🥴 I got to wondering where the day went, that I was super "busy" and achieved nothing.

🥴 I was blaming "life", my "schedule", and that "this is new for me" for things not getting done.

🥴 And yet it wasn't "new". I just hadn't framed it correctly in my head or in public.

🥴 I felt I had to work HARD to make this all work - like I didn't deserve success if it didn't feel hard.

I was drained and overwhelmed. At times like this, you have to look deep inside yourself, examine what's going on unconsciously that leads to your behaviours.

I knew I had to STOP.

❌ Stop playing small.

❌ Stop behaving like a beginner - my rebrand angle was new but my experiences were not!

❌ Stop working until I was exhausted. What does that get me other than sick? Playing the martyr wasn't getting me anywhere.

❌ Stop acting like a 20 year old starting at the beginning. I've got experience and wisdom they won't have for another 20, 30, 40 years.

❌ Stop trying to find other mountains to climb. I'm already sitting on top of the mountain I already conquered. I needed to plant my flag!

I had to STOP and consider the obvious for a moment.

Get the old Ange back.

What if it worked? Everything else I've every tried has. Why would this be different? Why was I being so hard on myself?

I had to reclaim ME. And I planted that flag HARD!

No more mountain climbing for me. I'm sitting on that summit and enjoying the view, flag pole in hand.

It was time for my TRUE identity to step up again.

🆕 I have WISDOM I've amassed over 30+ years as an brand and storytelling expert. That sets me above almost everyone in the field.

🆕 I've an obligation to be seen and spread my wisdom for the benefit of others.

🆕 I have a wealth of experience others don't. That makes me unique.

🆕 I KNOW what to do. I just need to do it - no more excuses.

🆕 I need to work smart not hard, and give myself grace.

🆕 Be who I am so I can have what I want.
