If you find yourself in a dilemma wondering whether to spend a few dollars a month on a subscription fee for an online tool that’s going to add TREMENDOUS value to your business, it’s time to flip your thinking!
I see it so often and it amazes me how some people can be so careful with their pennies at the expense of getting a higher return on investment for their business. If spending $12 a month will save you having to hire an extra member of staff for $3000 a month, isn’t that worth it?
But you’d be surprised at the number of people that delay on the decision and then decide to forego the $12 tool!
If this is you, it’s time to flip your thinking! STOP thinking of spending money on your business as an expense. If it’s something that’s going to help grow your business, it’s an investment.
Whether it’s a subscription
to a webinar tool that’s going to allow you to sell 24/7 without having to be there, or
to a marketing tool that’s going to allow you to build your own landing pages, saving thousands on hiring a designer, or
an automation solution that’s going to schedule your social media posts and send out your emails, or
advertising that’s going to sky-rocket your traffic,
WHY WOULDN’T YOU?
In business you need to pay to play.
Yes, it's understandable when you're first starting up your business that you may be a little bit strapped for cash if you haven't made any money from the business to start off with. You're basically starting at Ground Zero.
But you want to be thinking about taking some of your savings or your income from your present job and investing it into the business that you're wanting to create because you need to be INVESTING!
When your reaction to learning something that's going to help you to build your business is “why is it so expensive?” I would challenge you to think that you're approaching it from the wrong mindset and you've got to do a mindset flip.
So, when you're thinking “why is it so expensive?”, you're thinking only in terms of monetary value. You're thinking of just the monetary exchange.
Think about the REAL EXCHANGE for a little bit when you're investing that money. What are you getting in return? What is the value that you're getting?
If you're thinking of investing in a course, for example, and you’ve picked a good course and it's something that you really want to know and you KNOW that, if you did it, it would move the needle on your business, it’s going to give a return on investment.
So, when I hear people saying “Oh, I don't want to spend. It's too expensive. I’ll wait until I’m doing well”, and it’s over a $12 subscription, I have to scratch my head.
I've come across people not wanting to invest in $12 a month for a subscription to an IT tool that would save them hours and hours, like hundreds of hours a year and they don't want to invest in that small amount.
It’s time to start thinking of your business as a business and treating it like such. Again, I would challenge you. I would say “what is the value of that expenditure to your business?” If it's a tool that's going to help you in your business, if it's going to help you to automate your business, these are investments that are well worth the money.
Instead of using the word “expensive”, consider if subscribing to the tool will deliver benefits like saving you hours doing mundane tasks, or will it improve your service to your customers because it's automating something.
Instead of looking at spending always as a cost and an expense, look at it as an investment and then question, is it worth the investment?
Flip the script on investment.
